Stripes (2011) is a small white plastic bucket of gesso that appears to be painted with pastel-toned stripes of colour. In fact the horizontal strata are coloured elastic bands – both the paint tub’s contained undercoat and its curving exterior remains forever hidden under a pale simulation of a paint-stained gesso surface effect.
